Our Learning Approach

Little Ones Childcare follows a child-led, play-based philosophy inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and informed by trauma-sensitive care practices. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, connected, and empowered to explore their world.

Our classrooms are designed to provide predictable routines, supportive relationships, and meaningful opportunities for discovery. Teachers serve as guides and mentors, helping children investigate their interests, express their ideas, and develop confidence through hands-on learning experiences.

We recognize that children learn and respond differently based on their experiences. By fostering emotional safety, encouraging positive relationships, and teaching healthy ways to manage challenges, we help children build resilience, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Through play, exploration, creativity, and connection, children develop the social, emotional, and academic skills that prepare them for future success both in school and in life.

A Typical Day

At Little Ones Childcare, we provide a predictable yet flexible daily rhythm that helps children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. While activities vary based on children's interests, developmental needs, weather, and seasonal themes, each day is designed to balance exploration, creativity, movement, and rest.

A typical day may include:

  • Warm welcomes and relationship-building at arrival
  • Child-led exploration and free play
  • Circle time, songs, stories, and group discussions
  • Indoor and outdoor play
  • Creative art and sensory experiences
  • Nature exploration and discovery
  • Building, problem-solving, and imaginative play
  • Lunch and healthy snacks
  • Rest time or quiet activities
  • Small-group projects and hands-on investigations
  • Reflection and transition activities

Throughout the day, teachers support children in identifying emotions, building friendships, solving problems, and developing independence. Children are encouraged to make choices, explore their interests, and participate in activities at their own pace.

Our classrooms provide a balance of structure and flexibility, helping children develop confidence, resilience, self-regulation, and a strong sense of belonging. Through supportive relationships and meaningful play experiences, children learn the skills they need to succeed both in the classroom and beyond.
